Dose anyone know if this fits without cutting my bumper to pieces on my 03 td5 and also can you thread a strop through the holes and use it as a recovery point? 3 Piece Steering Guard - Please Click Image to Select Vehicle
Many Thanks Scott

Course you can. You could also run yer engine on petrol too if you don't want to buy diesel for it.:rolleyes::rolleyes::doh:

If you want a point to recover your vehicle from then buy a recovery point that is fit for the purpose. If the steering gaurd gave out you could easily kill someone.

why not just get a steering guard with recovery eyes???
Surely that makes more sense??

As ratty says, why use somthing for a purpose it was not intended, thats how accidents and injuries happen!!

its just you can buy guards with recovery points welded to them so thought the mounting points would be up to the job? where would be the right place to mount a recovery point at the front with clearance of the bumper? where do jate rings attach to? sorry for the noob questions, new to all of this.

check my link out........

The recovery points bolt directly tothe chassis where as the plate "with holes in" is bloted to the steering guard brackets with much smaller bolts and the direction of pull on the bolts means they just wouldnt survive i recovery.

the guard in your link dosnt fit the discovery 2 otherwise I would buy on of them ones. other guards I have see you have to cut the bumper to accommodate the recovery eyes themselves. Thanks for the replys

dose anyone know if the steering guard in the link above with the recovery points built in will fit a discovery 2 but with cutting holes where the recovery points come out?
