Went to change my steering box today on my disco 1 3.9 v8 auto,
I have undone the drop arm ball joint, 4 bolts on side, 19mm nut on side at bottom, steering column uj, and 2 pipes on top,
I have been wiggling for an hour but it wont come out, any advice. Its such a tight fit past coolant hoses, oil filter and a bar in front of axle,

Any ideas to help ?

undo tie bar 2x nut and bolt 11/16 (17mm) x 5/8(16mm) on bottom of pas box and when you refit nip bolts up and 19mm nut on side before fully tightening them so your not pulling on box

I removed mine upwards not downwards.

Make sure all bolts are out, shove bottom hose out of the way ( easier said than done) and lift the bugger up and out.

Too tight to drop it downwards, up is the way, careful it's bastard heavy!

Upwards could be the way, will they come out with drop arm and mounting still on ? Ive seen a rangie one drop out the bottom, thats why i went that route
