Hi Guys , last week i went and sold my trusty 2000 TD5 ,never let me down on my 80 mile daily commute. I upgraded to a 2004 Landmark edition ,bought it off ebay.
last tue it fired up for about 2 seconds then died and wouldnt start just turned over and over .phoned green flag and the guy got it started with easy start . started and run fine for the next couple of days then on friday same thing fired up for a couple of seconds and then died . same again today . a pal plugged in his rovcom and it said there was a air flow meter fault . would this effect the starting . or any ideas how to sort starting problem. it just wont start after it has fired up then died. losing faith fast.

Cheers:mad2:

Hi it could be the pump as dove mentioned above. Or it could be something simple like battery or starter motor.

Hi .Yes I can here the fuel pump working . I also tried purging the system and the pump sounded fine. the guy from green flag didnt offer any help and his diagnostic gadget couldnt read landy rover ..

Try start it with a squirt of wd40 or similar even deodorant ,idrain diesel filter make sure it's clean diesel, make sure your getting fuel to engine

Put new fuel filter and air filter in at weekend . its strange it fires and runs for a couple of seconds then dies and wont restart ? most annoying ???????

the filter in the pump get a tar like substance in it, take it out and give it a clean, also Bleed valve on the fuel filter, then it might be the fuel regulator? process of elimination!!

many thanks . will try that at weekend . started this morning first turn of key , bet that was kiss of death for tomorrow morning ???? . is fuel pump in the tank ?

Yes it's in the tank, you have to lift carpet in boot, take off the inspection cover in floor ,unscrew plastic ring on top off pump, remove pipes ,but mark them where they go to,lift pump out
