Hi Guys,

Earlier this month I fitted a new Borg & Beck clutch kit including fork and thrust bearing as well as a new slave cylinder.

All works fine and is still working perfectly, however.........

This afternoon the car has developed a squeak each time the pedal is depressed or released. The squeak lasts as long as the pedal moves. Yes I have tried not to move the pedal but this causes problems when stoping and starting at traffic lights :(. Again I have tried not to stop at traffic lights and junctions but this causes even more serious problems which one will reserve for another thread...

Anyhow back to the squeak. When the pedal is depressed, thats engaged and not in a certain state of maind, I can feel a slight juddering, very slight, at the master cylinder. However when under the car the squeak appears to be louder from within the bell housing.

Is it possible that the master cylinder is at fault and the squeak is being amplified within the bellhousing. I am unsure what could indeed squeak in the bellhousing at it was all cleaned out and fresh grease applied to the pivot and around the slidey things that go around the thrust bearing.

I did tie wrap the slave cylinder rod to the fork so is this a possible culprit?

Anyhelp on this would be appreciated, alternatively if you know of a way that you can drive with stopping at traffic lights and junctions, that may be usefull too.

you have to decide whether it is squeaky pedal and lubricate or release brg ,the ring that presses on clutch can click to one side and catch its own housing making a squeal noise

Tx JamesMartin,

The noise is a squeak and not a squeal. It is the same if the engine is running or turned off so the clutch spinning doesn't appear to affect it.

Today on a journey the squeak was not present at first but became apparent later on. I am wondering of the master cylinder may be on its way out as it is the only old part within the system.

Perhaps change this and work back from there to finally remove box to investigate if necessary.
