I have a D2 and I the rear left shock has started to squeak ( I think its the shock), it's loud enough to be heard from inside while driving as well as outside. Would this be normal if it needs replaced? Thanks.

I now don't think it's the shock as when I raise the suspension and shake the disco there is no squeaking, however when I lower it back down and shake it sure enough the squeaking is back. Can anyone think of what it might be??

Give it a go with WD40, spray it on the damper(or shock absorber) bushes and listen if there is a change. No solution but it will guid you.

I think this could be damper bushes as Storm 99 and Ahaggar says - though I've also had it on springs that werent properly located in the seat following a change.

The disco has air springs if this matters, if it is the damper bush would it not squeak weither the suspension was both at full height or normal road height? As it only squeaks at road height.

It i a landy thing, it is allowed to squeak if it wants to, diskussing which parts are possibly squeaking would take for ever.

lube it with anything and listen, you get a solution for no money.

And the angle between shock and axle is different when you raise the suspension.

My RR does exactly the same in hot or wet weather and periodically when it feels like it. Not evident when in lower or higher suspension but in normal mode it was driving me wild! It squeaked at the slightest undulation in the road's surface let alone over bumps i was being stared at by all whom i passed. Anyway, I wend bloody mad one day and took a kill or cure approach. I drove at high speed (40mph) over a series of about 40 speed bumps, accelerating before each one. Being that the insufferable squeaking was on driver's side, I ensured that this was the side which was doing most of the mounting. It was fun and bumpy. My wife nearly had a fit! It cured the irritating and constant squeaking instantly!
