We are going to wire up the new spotlights to the nudge bar next week !! Two different schools of thought here. Do we take the easy option and wire them into the main beam, or run them off a separate switch like the front fogs ? Has anybnody had any hassel from MOT /Old bill etc doing it either way? The lamps are Hella Rallye 4000. Street legal with the correct bulbs.

Beg to differ, driving lights CAN be used but must be controlled by mainbeam, there are regs about height, spacing and power of lights used this way.

I have mine wired into the main beam and never had any problems, they aren't small ones either but aren't that much brighter than the headlights due to the bulbs in them.

use a feed from the main beam to control the spot light relay, idealy add a switch before the relay so youve got the option to turn them off .

I checked with three MOT stations before I put mine on, who all said yes it's fine to wire into main beam. There are EU positioning requirements, but provided they're symmetrical, I don't think you'll be pulled up on it. Max bulb rating is 55W though, the 100W bulbs you see are for off road use only, and must be on a separate switch.

Opps just read this part of the thread. might have slight issues as both mine are 200 watts each!!!! best take a wire and put a switch in
