Yesterday went off roading at whaddon all over the site and then back through the lake, all ok, drive to the burger vasn let it run down for 10min then nothing.
No central locking?
All ignition works apart from cranking over the starter motor?
Wont tow start so Fuel shut off solenoid?

Is this the Spider box? can it also affect the central locking? can i just run two wires through switches to the fuel pump and starter solenoid? Dose the spider box affect central locking?

All advice would be great and its only an offroader so a permanet safe bypass would be great or is it just as easy to but the spider box bypass?

Many thanks.

Now I could be wrong and happy to be corrected but on a 98 I'm pretty sure you dont have a spider and you have a digital diesel solenoid(DDS) and these do not like water, I believe it can be removed and replaced/bypassed.
But the floor to my suggestion is the central locking not working, this leads me to think that water has got in elsewhere, did water come in the cab around the passenger footwell area?
To tell if you have a DDS have a look at the back of the pump and see if you have a three pin plug connecting it, if so its a DDS.

Yes the warter came in right up to the seats so deep! but everything was runing fine till i turned it off and removed the key?
I no its not a electronic fuel pump but it may well have the DDS, but it wont even turn over the starter motor?

I would now unplug the alarm ECU and see what's inside it, same with the engine management EC.
Any water in the unit then there's no hope for it, electronics and dampness don't mix also there's just a few relays behind the kick panels that will start playing up if water has got into them. Have you checked the fuse box did that get wet?

well I no its the mechanical pump and every single electric component works bar the Central locking, Starter motor solenoid and Fuel stop on the pump, that’s why I fought it was the spider?
Surely if I run two wires from the battery through a in line fuse and switch both to the Starter solenoid and fuel pump the rest is mechanical?
Also I have heard you can remove the plunger and spring from the Fuel stop solenoid completely but have to stall to stop it?
So in theory if I was to remove the fuel shut off plunger and spring and tow start it, it should run?

If you do have a DDS with three wires to it you can remove the black plastic cover thingy by drilling out the two tamperproof rivits or simply taking a hammer and chisel to it to break it off in lumps.
Underneath the plastic is a standard fuel solenoid cut off valve.
If you do take the plastic off connect a wire to the white wire of the three and connect it to the fuel cut off solenoid.
Don't worry about the other two wires.
You might be lucky and it will start.

ok so that will get the fuel cut off valve in the open position then do you no which wire is the live to energise the starter motor solenoid?
many thanks.
