today a customer bought me his disco 300tdo for a straight forward service and said will it run better after. After the normal conversation about fuel filters ect. he replied but it will only go up a hill by me mucklows if anyone knows it in 1st!!
after the service i started it up and it would only run upto 2000rpm i thought oh fuc, thinking timing and all sorts, then noticed the throttle cable had slipped to the ip and would not give full opening screwed it back and made up a spring clip to hold it in the right place and it drove like it should. When he picked it up he told me he had the filters done 500 miles ago and it had been like it since
he was well chuffed

The amount of cars running around like that eh.

I adjusted my sisters after changing oil and filters....WOW, she said - what have you done to it, you've sooped it up haven't you.

apparently it had been like that since she bought it, never did tell her my secret :D

the unscrupulous would have made a big job out of it,apparently he took it back to the place he had it done last time and they told him engine needed stripping cause it was old!!

tightening up the throttle cable is a well known mechanics trick to make people think a service has made a real difference as the car is percieved as being more respopnsive :)
