Security devices...

Picked up a copy of LRO from Sainsbury's today and there's a comparison between different security devices. The two that appear to have won above all others in the review were the Stoplock Professional and the Disklok.

I have a Disco 1, with an airbag (1997). Does anyone know if either of the above will fit?

Also, which one would you say is best? The Disklok is twice the price, but is it a better deterrent?

There's talk of the disklok being very annoying when you're driving because it'll effectively roll around in the passenger footwell either in the front or back, but then the Stoplock Professional can be used as a lever to easily break the steering lock.

Also, the Disklok prevents the steering wheel from being removed, but the Stoplock doesn't.

So... Which one would you say is best, and why??

Probably the best anti-theft device would be a set of axle stands & wheel brace !!lol

Disklok on my TD5 and when not fitted dont role about in the footwell for my money a million times better than the stoplock.

Disklok is top security really, can't say fairer than that. How much difference it will make I don't know cos the thieves probably know the way to open them, but certainly yeah in theory its should be very secure. Doesn't actually stop you moving the car though.

I think pedal locks are a decent bet.

If they are prepared to nick it, they'll come with a hiab and lift it away.... ****ing arseholes they are!

Next question - Disco 1 with airbag - which size of disklok? Their web site suggests Medium, but will that cover the airbag??

mines a 97 no air bag, have the large size. it does have three lock settings on arm. shop around on web to find cheapest. it can come with a bag but it not free.

New on here, but thought i'd just comment on this topic.

I have used a disklok for years, they are simply superb, dead easy to fit and remove, as long as you don't mind having behind your seat when not in use.

Serves two purposes, stops people nicking your airbag and also prevents driving away as ut just spins when fitted.

Just my two pennies worth
