got a lightbar for the roof of my disco one, been sat in shed for about a month now, cant decide what style of spot lights to put on it(if any)
was thinking round ones sticking up the way,but they would get burst pretty easy,
rectangular ones under the bar look ok,but do they light up the windscreen when your driving,
and where is the cheapest place to buy some from, seen 4 new ones on ebay for just under £30 delivered.
thanks for any replies..:)

Rectangular on my 90..regret putting them on, can see further on dipped beam..the cab lights up like Chernobyl. Soon as spring arrives i'm taking them off and putting spots on an A-Bar.

thats exactly why i put the pencil beam wipacs on me 90

the old rectangular ones just lit up the bonnet and actually made visibility worse.

the wipacs throw a beam out nice and far
i will prob change the ones on the rr soon to round ones aswell

Yeps..was looking at those X-Lites and still thinking of making them myself...hmmm

Might as well they're only a bit of tubing with a 12V downlighter bulb inside. If you make the tube out of summat malleable I have a set of pliers that will impress a dimple into the tube. Was given em at a plumbing convention supposed to be the new miracle compression fittings. craze to sweep the plumbing world. never used em and never seen the fittings for sale anywhere. But great for holding the bulb steady in the tube and keeping the retaining rings in place.

Well here was my thinking Red...I can get hold of some foot long heavy duty rubber military torches. I was going to cut them in half and then jig cut them so they fit snug to the lightbar. Then re-wire to 12V.

Still thinking how to hold the 2 halves together...for quick release and to stop theft I reckoned on 2 catches as you find on suitcases etc.. top and bottom...changing bulbs is easy as the front of the torch screws off.

What you reckon...**** or patent?

The Xlites are cut to the profile of the bar and then held in place by a jubilee clip passed thru a slot top and bottom and over the bar. don't see why you couldn't do same with torches.

i have 6x rectangle wipacs

you get glare on bonnet so its not good for fast driving, but when youre laning slowly its fine cos you dont need the contrast as such.

there are better lamps but these wipacs were 35 for 6 and suit me just fine (onoy wanted something so i could see out to the sides when laning/offroad)

cheers

I got 4 rectangle on mine, yes it does light the bonnet a bit, i ve taped the bottom of mine up so its not so bad, i only use mine for off road so am only going at a slow pace, I am not interested in seeing in the distance, but like to see whats beside me front wheels and infront for a short distance, for that they are great, I have turned the outside ones to the side slightly and down, and the middle ones i have pointed forward but more down then to light just infront of me.
