am i right in thinking that one of the best materials to use on the roof rack would be "Buffalo Board" ?

Had a look at that,its a bit tasty,innit? Birch ply with phenolic...what we used to call bonded-board back in my lorry days,most bodies used it for flooring.Damn good stuff but weghty,and expensive .....whats a sheet of ally chequer plate go for these days ?
Used to fit that stuff on commercial vehicle floors, its strong and dont rot but its very heavy, I would go for a sheet of 10swg ally 5 bar treadplate and price would be similar or poss a few quid cheaper and it would look better as well.
I can still get this kind of material at a discounted price but you would have to be able to collect it from Smarden near Ashford in Kent.
