Roof Bars

Can anyone tell me if the roof bars on the disco 2 are the same as the disco 1?

I am trying to get some cross bars to carry my Kayak and have seen lots of Disco 1 cross bars at good prices but disco 2's seem less available and more expensive - mines a 2003 face lift model.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good ones at a reasonable price? I don't want to spend a fortune as I'm hoping to swap the disco 2 for a disco 3 in the next 12 months or so.

For longer loads, I use the Thule high foot gutter mount kit and bars, fit fine on both my old D1 and current D2. They retail at about £170 new, around £100 used. I'm just debating about a change to a RRS so mine could be available!

Stick to a D2..Unless you have big pockets. I have an American Spec D2 which as I now know is a RR in Disco form. Disco spares are OK price wise. RR are mega !!

Disco 1 bars had holes in them on the inside faces, and the standard cross bars fitted in to these using spring loaded plastic lugs.
I would not have trusted a Kayak to them.

However as far as I can tell the Disco 1 and 2 bars are the same profile, so if you have bars that 'gripped' around the roof bars then they should fit.

Nothing::: as long as your not trying to show off to the fanny that you are kyak boy.

ok sorry never thought about that try two lenghts of carved oak stained to the colour to match paint work and two stainless steel jubilee clips polished of coarse.

I think you need the Freelande site

and ther was me thinking a kyake would be to heavy for a freelander
