Have done a wee search and seems to be conflicting views.. can anyone clarify..?
Recently picked up a disco which came with 20 inch RR rims with 275/40/20's ... The front 2 tyres were pretty worn but managed to pick up a couple of 'new' 275/45/20's for a bargain £90 a piece. I put the higher profiles on the back and moved lower profiles to the front to get home and plan on changing the fronts now to 275/45/20's as well.

Am I ok to drive like this in the mean time as the front axle has different 'rolling radius' to rear axle ??
I have scanned through previous posts and some folk say as long as the 'rolling radius' matches on each axle you're ok but others seem to say no this will still damage diffs...

Have ordered some new 275/45/20's but gonna be a couple of days... any help on this matter appreciated...

from the top, the 45 profile is the L322 range rover size, and the 40 profile is the range rover sport/d3 size.

if its a d3 that you have then id be marginally concerned about driving on different tyres becuase they have a somewhat complex transfer case setup.

a d2 on the otherhand shouldnt mind it too much, as long as you avoid motorways/high speed you should get away with it as the centre diff will be able to take up the difference - although you have to bear in mind that you are going to be running the diff unbalanced the whole time so it may increase transmission temps - but i would have thought at low speeds you will be just fine.

as above, i think one should be more careful with a disco 3.

cheers
