does anyone know of a decent place to get the mounting plates on my disco 1 steels 'reversed', in hig peak/derbyshire area?
or would it be cheaper to just buy wolf/modulars or even spacers?

cheers chaps

Speak to co-pang-yang, he did it himself :)

Easier to buy 16x8 Modulars, but at £225 it's far more ghetto to make your own!

Yeah speak to Co Pang yang, his hold up well, they way he chucks his disco around, dont think his had a problem with them at all.

you'll find him on the essex lanes thread.

Never felt so popular in one thread before.
Now I'm not a Pikey but if I can find a way to do something for free then I will lol.
What I did with my wheels was first took an angle grinder to the welds on the inside of the wheel, don't need to get rid of all the weld just make sure there is a hairline gap between the centre plate and the rim.
Next you need to separate the two parts. I used my landlords apple press, all 20 tonnes of it! Still needed a wack with a sledge.
Once the two pieces are separated you need to clean both sides so that they are both smooth.
Now comes the fun part, you need to put the back together and get them straight.
They way I did this was to jack the Landy up so the wheels can turn off the ground then bolted the centre plate of the wheel to the hub. Next I put the outer rim on and started tapping it into place. Then I was a case of holding a bar on the floor in line with the edge of the wheel then turning it and knocking the rim until it spins straight.
Finally take the wheel off and weld the two pieces back together again and your done.
Ghetto but works lol.

Could try local garages as they usually have presses.
Well welds will be on the inside of the wheel so as long as theres good penetration then thats fine.

if youve got to ask if the quality of the welding matters i hope you aint driving anywhere near me.....
is bthis for an off roader? cos im not sure your insurance co will like home bodged wheels on the road either

Interesting.
Land rover decided to weld in 3 places around the wheel approximately 3 inches long each. When mine were re-welded we did 4 welds.
And this is dangerous how? Been driving a them a year now and none of my wheels have fallen off.

there is never going to be a problem with re-welded wheels as long as the quality is sufficient not to raise any doubts.

if they look **** the insurance company could make a fuss.

as long as they look proper and are evidently strong enough your insurance assessor wouldnt be bothered about them.

theres a difference between altered wheels and bodged wheels.

cheers

re: big lad, i paid £225 for a set of four 15x10 wheels inc delivery. i think the 16x8s are similar! :D

OK am I dim? Umm Leading Question..........

Why would you want to reverse the wheels?? I am interested in this thread as I am looking at upgrading wheels and suspension

Tx

Its moves the rim of the wheel outwards meaning you can fit bigger wheels without loosing steering lock.
When I fitted my 265/75/16's to my steelies I had less than one turn of the steering wheel before the tires hit the radius arms. Now I get full lock without any rubbing.

resuction time

i seem to remember reading a thread about the various offsets of landy wheels, and someone posted a picture showing how far each one sticks out etc..

does anyone know what im talking about or was it a dream lol?

thinking of either weller or modulars as this maybe a bit trickier than i thought. need a second set in the mean time and you can pick them up pretty cheap on ebay, even if they need a bit of paint
