Does anyone know of any retractable side-steps for a Disco 1?

My standard side steps are being battered to hell. One of them's about to drop off and the other will soon follow, I'm sure. I need to replace them with some steel sliders, but then it'll be too difficult for a lot of people to actually get into the vehicle.

I could carry a beer crate around in the boot for people to step up onto, but that's a bit crap.

Anyone got any ideas??

well i plan to fit sliders, definitely, but they are 3 or 4 inches higher than the step.

This is a good thing for ground clearance etc... but not good when people below 6' 2" are trying to get into your car!

If i remove the side steps, I definitely need some solution for allowing people into my car from the side doors. Carrying a beer crate is one solution, but some kind of retractable, or fold-up step would be better on the long run!

What you on about, I've removed my knackered side steps but have kept the plastic side trim so that my kids have a "step". My boys are 5 & 3, if they can access a Disco that way surely an adult could use sliders(with anti-slip plates fitted)????

you're probably right... i've ordered a pack of replacement plastic rivets, so I think i'll rip the plastic trim off to take a look at the sills (i might be waxoyling it all soon) and start saving up for some sliders... they're only 3 inches higher or so, after all!
