Hi guys,

I've got a Disco2 TD5, and have ongoing problems with my 12N socket. It is currently attached on a bracket next to the towball, but it gets thunked and bent on offroad days. Worse still, I use the disco to launch a boat, and sometimes the socket ends up submerged, meaning that it and the wiring keep rotting out. Any suggestions (preferably with pics) as to an alternative location where it will be within reach of the cable to the boat trailer but out of the sea?

Cheers,

David

HI mine is located on the support beam from the chassis mount but it is quit a wide beam I'll put a picture up when i can find it

Only thing with it there I have had to make an extension lead up as all my caravan's and trailers leads wonn't reach
I have seen the sockets mounted on the bumper drivers side of towbar

Just read the post properly didn't see the bit about needing to be higher

I had my cb aerial mounted using the Spare wheel holder
How about getting a Towbar socket mount and seeing if you could get any metal so that it brings the mount to the side of tyre either by using the bolts that hold the spare on or drilling in to the holder then it's just working out how to get the wires to it whice can be done by taking the door card off, Which you would proberly have to do if you went with Smarty1972 suggestion which is also a good idear

Mine is mounted in the corner panel under the drivers side rear light

Nice and close to the trailer socket plug too, so you don't have to run wires far (in case you didn't know there is a plug near the drivers rear light that has all the lighting wiring, a constant live and a reversing light feed also)

I have an extension for use with normal trailers, our own have longer cables already.

Good place, very dry, just fits too :)

Can get a pic if necessary!
