Recon Gearbox Possible Problem

Hello everyone, I'm in need of some help. I've just fitted a recon gearbox in my friends W reg td5, and it doesn't seem to go into first properly, all the other gears go in as you expect, nice and positive, but first doesn't seem to select. I haven't driven it yet as I'm waiting for a slave, but I am pretty sure it will just pop straight out of gear, if it even gets in it. I'm really wishing I had checked it first! has anyone else ever had a similar problem, and is it something I can have a go at fixing myself or am I going to have to take it back out and send it back? please give me some good news. Thanks in anticipation.

i had this with mine. won't go into thrid completely. Turned out to be a coin wedged down in the selector. Pull the gear gaiter off and have a route round. cost nothing take only minutes and you have nothing to lose

you will have to mput slave on and try it could be poor baulk ring but could equally be good one jammed

Thanks for the replies, it turned out to be fine, once I'd rolled it of the ramps they all selected fine, what a relief, this job has taken five days, 1 days worth of taking the old gearbox out and putting the new one in, 4 days of removing perfectly round nuts and bolts, I don't understand why the last **** fitted it with round ones, no one sells a round spanner so they are near impossible to get off!
