Holding a disco up with a jack on top of a pile of bricks:eek::eek::eek:
Don't think you will be around long enough to finish it,

nooooooooooo:eek: bin there dun that its just to keep the back from twisting i already came out second best to the mondeo in may 3 screws in elbow joint and a plate and 6 bolts in radius cos i forgot the hand brake although i had chocked the wheels but not enuff :hurt:

Don't be disheartened, use it as a chance to future proof the disco, box section sills aren't difficult to do and very nice job when done, haven't done my boot floor but its due next year it's in bad shape. Think ill get a floor shape folded up and make it match onto the arches and inner quarter panels when I get there.

LONG LIVE THE DISCOS!!!!!!

thanks for the encouragement but im just hoping that my talent holds up to the task

i think not lol

Just take your time and enjoy it. It's supposed to be a bit of fun, right?
If it stops being fun, down spanners and do something else for a bit.

Don't be a tit like me and try and do the whole lot in 4 weeks. It stops being fun quite quickly if you do that!

haha yes its supposed to be fun and it is i have done stuff like this before in mi yoof, i have had minis and an all agro so used to a challenge lol, and yes doc pigieon **** it is but its solid the way its blown through aswell i fink its been stick welded may be wrong tho they just patched over stuff in stead of cuttin the rot out but its mi own fault should of looked better i , i knew the floor was shagged but as for the rest i saw the patches on the under side cos its been patched bothe sides of the rot:eek:and the part i could see didnt seem to bad
ok i cant hide i bought a pup lol

hello all
so did a little bit more this afternoon, whilst sorting my order for numerous panels from yrm i thought i clean up the back end of the chassis and see what needs doing,i started by droping the fuel tank after having sprayed all bolts in wd40 every day for over a week i still sheared of the four bolts lol, removed the rear ploughing attachment and attacked the chassis with the wirebrush wheel
ye ye i heard heres the pics

so it looks like i have a bit on the chassis to do as well:dance:lol
suggestions are welcome for the chassis crossmember do i cut it out and replace with box section or patch it all round bearing in mind the whole under side of the cross member fell of when i took tank out:confused:
thanks for looking
Martin

There's always more to it than what you can see.
Chop all the crap out and see what your left with and make a decision from there. Chances are it'll be a whole new section.
Or, alternatively, I think there's someone on here flogging a disco galvanised chassis for not an awful lot of beer tokens?

Its all doable, but thats a hell of a lot of work. If your welding is OK now, you'll be an artisan by the time you've finished :D

Really admire you if you do continue, to be honest I'd consider breaking it and getting another with less rot. I'm assuming the mechanicals are all A1? If you have work to do there as well, then its a no brainer to me - walk away - it'll cost a packet to do and take years.
