Re: Rear Quarter Light Replacement
full excess is a bit steep.. still my insurance co put my glass excess up to £150 this year obviously intending that I will never claim for glass...
dunno, normally glass is pretty easy but I am staring out the window at mine thinking about it and I can't think how it would be done... I have a scary suspicion the main window would have to come out as well as the door top so you can get the runner that goes between the two bits of glass out..

Re: Rear Quarter Light Replacement
found it on rave
Quote:
1. Ensure that the window is in the fully closed
position and secure it with adhesive tape over
the top of the door to prevent the glass from
dropping down.
2. Disconnect battery negative lead.
3. Remove the door trim panel. See rear side
door - trim panel.
4. Remove the plastic vapour barrier.
5. Where applicable remove the door actuator and
window lift motor. See ELECTRICAL, Repair,
window lift motor - rear. See ELECTRICAL,
Repair, rear side door actuator units.
6. Remove the four window regulator securing
screws and shakeproof washers from the inner
door panel.
7. Carefully disengage the lifting arm stud from the
glass lifting channel and remove the window
regulator from the lower opening in the inner
door panel.
8. Remove the waist rail seal from the top of the
door panel.
9. Remove the single bolt, spring and plain
washers from inside the door, securing the
bottom of the short glass run channel.
10. Remove the two bolts, spring and plain washers
from the hinge face of the door.
11. Remove the two bolts, spring and plain washers
securing the door frame to the edge of the door.
12. Lift out the door frame complete with glass and
remove to a suitable workbench.
13. Remove the tape and slide the glass out of the
door frame channel.

Re: Rear Quarter Light Replacement
Ive been told the whole top frame needs to come off then you slide the glass in from the bottom and put it all back together, its where all the screws are that im after, done jobs before where i think ive got em all out only to find one left or taken all the screws out to find i only needed to take 3 out.

Re: Rear Quarter Light Replacement
Thats that job done, quite easy and took me just over 2 hours, all i will say is if your doing it on your own have a couple of small ratchet straps handy to pull the top of the door back into line before ya drop it back into the lower door

Re: Rear Quarter Light Replacement
My rear quarter light has also been bust by some knob (in this case myself, as I managed to lock myself out, engine running, no spare key ...)
Hopefully the above instructions are good for a '99 Disco 2 but what I REALLY want to know is where Little1UK/Stew got replacement glass for £8, Rimmers are asking well over £100 which makes my little lapse in concentration all the more annoying. All suggestions gratefully received ...
