Rear Door Hinge pins
Does anybody know if you can replace the rear door hinge pins (tailgate).
1996 Discovery 300tdi
Thanks
Sean

If the actual pins are knackered then are the hinges outer casing not also corroded? I'd imagine it'd be easier to just fit new hinges...

It probably would be, but the new hinges are around £50 each, the pins if I can find some possibly £1 each

The pins can be knocked out, but the disco ones look as if the pin was pressed in from the top of the hinge so that will involve removing the hinge and driving the pin out in reverse to the way it was pressed in ie. from underneath.

You may be able to purchase replacement pins not necessarily Land Rover but if not you will have to make your own out of silver steel rod of a dia/size to suit.

You may wish to look out for secondhand replacements.

the pins are pressed in , mine went i tried drilling them, i tried a big hammer none worked they where to solid and if you do get them out the outer hinges will be worn anyway, save your energy. i got two hinges from a scrap yard for £15, its ONLY two bolts and two rivets
