my boot door has started catchin on the rear bumper after a bit of off roading...

there is a gap of about an inch between my tow bracket and the bottom of the bumper which i dont remember bein there before.. and the plastic cover between the boot and the bumper is lifted like a ramp..:(

is it possible the bumper has lifted and if so where are the bolts to adjust it back down?:)

or are my rear body mount knackered and the body has dropped?.. there is some corrosion round mounts... they dont look too good.. :(

if its the mounts, has anyone used the easy on repairs from froggats? are they any good??

i can weld a bit or is it likely to be a huge job...

thanks for any advice.....

The best thing you could do is take the bumper off and have a look at the rear crossmember and body mounts.
The easiest way to get it off is to remove the bumper lights and undo the four sideways facing bolts you find in the spaces.
The bumper is bolted to two brackets which in turn are bolted to the chassis by one bolt each. these are the bolts you need to free off to allow adjustment of the bumper.
Normally you can't get them undone due to corrosion hence taking the bumper of first.

its more than likely a huge job, if rotten cross member ,as it wil need to be welded to rust unless your lucky, its normal for whole back end to rust,if not easy job once bumpers off

cool...

thanks v much...

i'll start by gettin the bumper off to have a look... once its been off it will be pretty easy to replace and remove to do the work...

its my daily runner too, so cant have it stood idle on the drive in too many bits...

yeah saw them £18.50 but then ya gotta add vat and delivery and they leap up to £31.50..

and there are two of the dam things...

for that i'm sure i could make some if i need to..

hoping its just the bumper thats lifted..

couldn't figure out how to get the lights out of the bumper so had a go at the two bolts (one each side) that are a couple inches inbound from rear lights... got em most way out then they started gettin stiff so i wd40@ em and wound em back in.. that should free em for tmoz..

had a good look at mounts. they seem solid but a disappearing up into cross member...

if i get a metal sheet between cross member and mount and up the front of the cross member and weld into place, then weld mount to this new metal..... does it all have to be seam welded?

in theory but ive not seen many done as fully as that,as the rest of metal around is usualy poor ,you can get brushable seem sealer which is good and hides less than perfect welds
