Ok so I bought one last april with a couple of months mot on it.
I dont know a great deal about the car but went ahead and bought it.
Anyway I took it to one mot place and they advised me of a few bits that needed sorting. I spent a couple on hundred pounds and had those bits done. Because the two weeks passed I took it to my local MOT place where they found LOTs of things wrong.
Anyway I have decided im probably best to cut my losses because i dont want to spend any more.

My question is I want to now sell it but didnt know what i should be asking for.

Basically from what the MOT place said is that the steering is a bit rough, some electrical things the front ns, rear ns and number plate lights arent working. And some welding needs to be done but i have already had the inner arches done.

Anyway now the spec..

Its a Disco 1, 200tdi. Matt Black
217000 miles. 1992 K reg
Brand New Battery
Modular Wheels - 265x75x16 BF Goodrich Tyres
Stripped interior with Fiesta SI seats
Its got a 2" lift from springs and a further 2" chassis lift.
Read Diff guard - front got stolen
Some cone things to do with the springs
Safari Snokel
Brand new windscreen fitted by autoglass this week

It also has a full external roll cage welded to chassis (exocage) - Would it be worth my while cutting it off and selling it separately and if so whats that worth?

Thanks

Failed MOT ... 200k+ miles ... £50 ..

Might be better parting it out, then scrapping what doesn't sell, rather than trying to sell as a going concern .. ;)

Or park it up, SORN it, strip it, fix it, put it back together, MOT and tax it and use it .. would be my choice.

Put it on ebay. With all those fashionable accesories it'll fetch way more than it's worth. Probably get 6 or 7 hundred quid for it even with no MOT.

i am yet to get the mot because im picking it up later but from what they said it failed becasue of loose steering - my guess is steering rack/possibly bearings. they said some welding, i know thats not the chassis, boot floor, or any of the arches so not sure what welding is needed. and some electrical bits it seems with the lighting. to someone that knows what they are doing its probably easy enough, but i dont have the funds to be messing around with it or the space or time.
id hope to get more than £50 lol, only because i recently spend £600 on it. parts may be an option but im not keen on wasting ages breaking it all down then having to pay to remove it.
the tyres are all good and parts wise im sure id get something for it.
I guess il have to go with ebay and see what it can fetch...
if i got 700 id be happy because although it wouldnt cover what i paid for the car it would pay for what ive spend on it in the last 2 weeks and il have to write it off as a loss....

Try MOT at another garage. New steering box? Easy fix but if you don't want to spend anymore money yes eBay is your main option. Maybe advertise as off-roader only? I'm like you I wouldn't spend the time breaking it as their are loads of Disco 1 parts available anyway. Good luck.
