Hello!
I am new on this forum and from Sweden, that will explain my bad English.

I have changed my head gasket and after that my engine runs very bad at cold start. It runs on 2 or 3 cylinders, smokes alot (white smoke) for the first 30 to 60 sec. then it runs ok.

Things i have done:

New fuelpump
New fuel pressure regulator
New glow plugs (and they have power)

Hoping for an answer.

Hello :welcome2:

Firstly your English is better than some of the locals ;) :D

Secondly If you do a search on here there are loads of threads on smoking vehicles. If you search "White smoke" that should help ;) :D

If the smoke smells of oil, you have oil in your cylinders - maybe leaking in through the valves.
If it smells of diesel the fuel is not burning properly - injection timing or glow plugs.
If it smells of antifreeze/coolant you have water in the cylinders - gasket not fitted properly or a warped or cracked cylinder head.
Have a sniff.

Good call

Small world :D

Thanks for very quick answers!

The waterlevel is normal
its not condense
it doesent smell any abnormal
the bad thing is when its very cold -25 degrees i glow it and it starts immediatly but sometimes it stops because it only runs on 2 cylinders. After a while it runs on all 5 and and works perfectly.

Before u randomly replace other parts just hoping to get it better my advise is to plug it in a tester and read live data(injectors, maf, etc)....at least u-ll see if there are faults logged(or not) too.

If you are starting in very cold temperatures you may well get some white smoke - this is unburnt fuel and goes when the engine warms up. TD5 always run a bit rough on cold starting as there are only 4 glow plugs. It does sound to me as though glow plugs are your problem - it may not be the new plugs though. Have you checked the wiring?
