outer door handle not working

I have a 94 300Tdi. My problem is that the drivers outer door handle will not open the door. The door unlocks fine and opens fine from the inside too but not from outside. Over the past week or so I have had to pull the handle harder, or further really, to open it but tonight I cant pull far enough! I am assuming, probably wrongly, its an adjustment on a cable or something but any advice would be appreciated.

My drivers door handle went like this so I removed the door card, cleaned all the parts then re-greased them, not had any issue's since.

Think it will be the brass coloured metal retaining clip that has moved or the plastic connector on the handle link rod.

You'll have to remove door card, and plastic weather protector thingy , there's a cut out allowing access to the two horizontal link rods

the rod from handle is adjustable ,but is a sign that other parts of mechanism will give trouble ,just how soon,still they were designed for leyland cars,reminds me of getting into marina vans
