First of all I apologize for being a forum Whore and asking for advice when iv only made a few comment's my self. I will become a regualr user and comment when I know more about Disco's:D

SO... I havn't long bought My Disco 2:D and have been loving it (besides the radiator going and the clutch on its way out) my friend who is a mechanic had a spin in her the other day and was concered by the ammount she's bouncing around and rolling and TBH i had noticed when i first bought her, but thought this was the norm for 4x4's. My friend say's that it should'nt be this much:S

The ACE has been removed ( Pump still there and ACE pipes cut along drivers side front wheel arch)

Iv been underneath and there are NON Ace Anti roll bars fitted:D Airbags on the rear though.

I was thinking possiably that the shocks had gone, ( Although I the tried push down shock test, it seemed ok to me) going over speed bumbs im sure the axle is hitting the bumb stops.

After reading through it seems many people don't think the ACE makes a diffirence, so I'm pretty sure it shouldnt roll around this much.

any idea's or advice would be great..

****..... Sorry for the Essay.. got carried away !

Hi Disco-lew

I haven't got any direct comparisons (my D2 still has the ACE) but from what I've read on here any Discos with Airbags on the rear will tend to roll a bit more once ACE has been removed compared those which have it removed but have coils on the back. I wouldn't how much more though sorry.

How many miles has your Disco done? Seeing as the more miles the less effective the shocks are likely to be (even if they're not classsed as properly worn out) it might be worth renewing them anyway. Even if it doesn't dramtically help the body roll it should help a bit and maybe make the ride a bit more cushioning again?

I know some have swapped air to coils but it seems this may have some implications for insurance (type approval or summat) esp if you have the third row seats fitted.

Sorry I can't be more specific with my help - I'm fairly new to landrover ownership too!

Im confused, if ACE has been removed, how is the pump still there ? it will "overheat" as its normally cooled / lubed by the ACE fluid.
it should have been replaced with an idler pulley and shorter V belt.

Vehicles with air suspension have different NON-ACE bars than those with coils........has it got the correct ones fitted?

I have just De-ACE'd mine, and tbh it does not feel much different, although I have heavy duty front springs so thats "probably" why........ so if yours is that "soft" then I would suggest its down to worn / saggy / weak front springs, the factory front springs are not up to much tbh and do go VERY weak over time.

Thanks for your advice guys

She's done 124,000 so its proabably worth changing them:D going to have a look at some teriffermia's :D

Im thinking of upgrading the Bushes whilst I'm at it.

That's what i though about the Pump to Urban Panzer, it has a NON Ace belt on it, but the pump is still there! it seems a bit seized, hopefully the ECU has been told its not working!

As for the Rear Anti-roll bar i need to find out the diffirences before I can check if it has the right one! so will check that out tonight.

is having Heavy Duty spring's Whilst not really carring much weight a bad option?

thanks for all your help guy's

P.S Nice pic in Land Rover Owner International " Urban Panzer" ( just in case you havnt seen its a group one in the World of land rovers section) :D

Its a pity you are not a little bit nearer...

My 2001 TD5 ES has had the ACE removed professionally and i must say, it handles quite well.

You would have been more than welcome to try and compare it to yours

If you need any pics or advice, just ask, i'll see what i can do

SP ;)

Thanks Sweetpea.... i might get under mine take a pic and then see if we can compare, the diffirences:D i have a huge LPG tank towards the back of mine, and the Anti roll bar seem's to be facing inwards, almost under the seats.

Do you think this could be right?

Yikes... i think you may need to take a pic, it should run across from nearside to offside to be effective and are located right at the front of the axle, are you sure it isn't the radius arm you can see?

Just thinking.. can you identify it from this pic?

yeah number 7:D, I thought that on the rear axle the Anti roll bar would face towards the rear of the car( behind the axle) but mine faces towards the front, I wanted to check if that was right, Which seems it is :D ( my **** explination in the first place)

Yeah i had figured, but did'nt mention beacuse i wasnt a 100% yep everything is fine, although those Anti roll bars are the ACE ones and mine does'nt have the ACE actuator etc :D

Thanks for all that:D
