Alittle ****ed off. my gf was sat in a lay by yersterday, when some old doris drives down the side of my car then bounces off the back end. Not happy with that, she doesn't stop parks up up the road and goes and does her bloody shopping. After speaking with her, and getting i'm old bit, we passed details. Spoke to her other half that night, and he tels me that there is £3000 worth of damage to there car, and that there's will be written off pug 406 on a 52plate.

So where does that leave my car now, waiting for the insurance to come out and take alook, we have spent alot of money and time on her and i'm guessing she will also written off she even managed to crack the rear body mount off the body. ffs Anyways here are some pics

If an accident isn't your fault you can insist the vehicle is repaired and not written off.

There isn't anything wrong with it that a hammer wont fix, and yer body mount wasn't cracked by the collision it's just normally rusted through.

is was rusted however was intact before the knock, well maybe there was alittle mud on it lol. it does run all the way round. I don't mind buying it back, thing that scared me was that they have said that they will give me the value of the truck in its current state pre accident.

Including buying it i have £3k in it so far, but know i will never see that again. But i've been hooked by it and don't know when to stop.

You mean they were only goin to offer you £500 ! :D

had similar when a truck hit mine , in end told ins co. to go f*** themselves. they wanted to write it off . Ifixed it myself for about £40 and couple of hours lab.
yes it grieved me but better than it being Q plated as that can be nightmare with ins. renewal

Read the advice being given here.

I'll say it again for you.

When it comes to insurance if you are not at fault, you can INSIST on your vehicle being repaired unless it is the highest level of write off (i.e. dangerous to be put back on the road)

Insurance companies will try and write cars off all the time but dig your heals in and TELL them that your car will be repaired. This does not matter how much it costs, it is your RIGHT to have it repaired.

Accept the write off value at £3k pay insurance to buy back at £500 repair car for £50 and parrrrrrty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:beer2::banana::drum::tea::cheer2::5bcheers2::5bparty::5bparty::5bparty::5bparty:

Also my n/s rear wheel looks asthou its leaning inwards, bloody keep finding things. The insurance haven't even been out to it yet. Even thou they said within 24hours. Going to ring them tomorrow. They said that they want to take it away for an inspection to work out how much to fix. And leave us a like for like car.

Another big no no! Do not lat them take it anywhere! It starts accruing storage charges which add to the cost, I knew a guy whose repairs were valued at £1000, but as the storage costs amounted to £4500 the car was written off as uneconomical!!

Also you hear of some being taken away then sold to dealers to fix before a settlement has been agreed!

Just be careful if you are given a hire car as a temp replacement. My mate had his car written off recently, when they came to collect the hire car the tossers tried to stitch him up with damage under the bumper you needed a mirror to find.

cheers for the info guys. I know an indi not to far away. Am i better getting a quote off him as a guide, then passing it on to the insurance company?

Accept the write off

better than your insurance having to pay out..........

when them ****part brakes fail
