Hi iv'e had a search and mooch in the archives to try and figure out an oil leak my 300 tdi Disco has developed, the only info refers to td5s, but mine is a 300tdi. Ive started to get a little patch wherever i park now it happened overnight as before the engine was bone dry, the leak seems to be mainly coming from the drivers side of the engine, and there seems to be a fair build up on top of the diff, the only thing i am worried about is the engine doesen't seem to be loosing any oil, iv'e checked the diffs gearbox power steering oils etc and they are all fine, so my thought is that is there diesel filling the sump up, as it has to be loosing oil somehow.
can you tell me what parts on a tdi would leak oil but still cause the dipstick to show no loss of oil please........thanks steve

Got any pics? Could be any number of things, vacuum pump, blocked cyclone breather, porous breather pipe, oil filter, or even the diff itself. Wipe everything down, then run the engine for a bit and try to track any leaking oil.

Homemade engine degreaser, one 8th paraffin, same washing up liquid, rest water....shake well, brush or spray on....scrub before it dries, likewise hose off.Beware of where runoff goes as its a pollutant to watercourses. Can substistute waste diesel from a filter change for paraffin, pref bio though cos its not so nasty as runoff.Run engine, find leak.Nasty MOT man doesnt chuck your truck out as untestably dirty.

oil cooler pipes leak were rubber joins metal, loose filter
Thanks to everyone it turned out to be above, the nut to the engine from oil cooler pipe was able to be tightend by hand,it was that loose, lucky as it was really starting to leak, could have become disastrous to me, thanks all very much
