Well, the new disco is so far not doing to well... 1996 300tdi manual

The new drive has got oil drips all over it and the wife is threating to throw a match into it unless i fix it. That and the fact it doesn't get over 70mph.. but that's another story....

I've had a look underneath and can see just below the gearbox it's dripping - now i have no idea if this is the transfer box/gearbox/some other leaky thing..

I've tried tightning all up the bolts, and even slapped some mastic around the splits, but it doesn't seemed to have helped.

I'm guessing i'm going to have to take it somewhere to get a new seal or something - but i'm off to Le Mans in it in 2 weeks time so i'm running short of ideas, and money lol...

Any help identify the leak will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Craig.

Oil leaks are not unusual for a land rover and the best thing is to keep the oil levels topped up and place some thing under the discovery when its parked on the drive way to catch the oil drips.
Other wise your going to have start spending money on trying to sort the leaks which will probably start leaking again any way.
:)

cant tell from photos oil come from higher up ,they can leak between the 2,and from intermediate shaft which has 30mm socket sized nut on rear and sits in hole in case in front its sealed with oring ,maybe fixed with silicone if shaft pushed through enough cleaned dry and sealant applied to box side of oring ,wont work if hole to worn ,need better photos of front side

Thanks chaps ..

Currently have some cardboard and a brick under the car.. I'll have another look when it's light to see if i can see the 30mm nut.. and try to get some more pictures.
