Hi all - just replaced the oil cooling pipes but after a 2 hour fight to get one of the push fits on, after a test run there is a slight leak from the near side area - can't pinpoint it

my fear is that ist the inlet/outlet pipe from the oil cooler its selft thats gone due to the amoutn of pressure i ended up putting in to getting the push fit on (its angled, so the joint would have taken a beating)...

any thoughts?

if its the union is it a breakers job to get a 2nd hand one?

The cooler pipes where the hoses connect are very "weak", and as you have found out, it often requires quite a bit of force to connect the push fit pipes. If your to agressive with it, its possible the cooler has a split in it, or maybe you have not got the pipe fully on.

Did you here it "click" as you pushed it on ?

There is an access panel (3 screws) under the wheel arch which makes accessing the pipe far easier, if its not clipped home fully, it will pop off at some point and it does not take long to empty the fluid and leave you stranded.
