noise from D3 2.7 V6 engine

Hiya folks , i've recently gained a whoosh whoosh noise , that seems to come from the back of the engine on my '05 D3 . Can be heard plainly when engine is ticking over .. Anyone any idea what this might be ?? Z.

i've got it booked into my dealer for tomorrow , so hopefully i'll be able to share the result of what this noise is

Turbo failure isnt uncommon on them engines as they suffer from sludge and swarf build up in the feed lines to the turbo.

AVOID long life service intervals they are bollox. change every 5-8k

thanks !! i'm not sure my dealer is correct , but they think its the belt tensioner at the front , although the noise seems to come from the rear . I will change the tensioner any way , and see what happens .
How much is a new turbo if it turns out to be at fault ?
There is no noise when engine is cold , and it sounds like something rubbing against something else twice per second.

between 600-1200quid IF faulty. Alot of turbos are VNT type now so cant be rebuild as when you crack them open it ****s the balancing.

no , i guessed it would work out more exspensive to buy a waranty than to take a chance and do without one.
