Hello all.
Although only 5 days in, I'm loving my first LR (2004) and first diesel and 4x4 in fact. It's the first motor that has made me enthused, there's so much you can do with these machines!
Although I've Googled endlessly, read the forums and the manuals back to back, I wonder if anyone might be able to answer some questions I have? Please?!
1. Fuel / engine additives - does anyone have any ideas of some that may be good for protecting the engine (diesel 2.7), improving MPG and/or making it slightly quieter?, or would you advise against such things?
2. The built in sat nav - I know I can go into settings and turn the screen off, but I have to do this every time as the whole thing comes on every time I get in the car! Is there any way to set it so it's off until I decide if I want it on?!
3. There's a surprising amount of wind noise on the motorway at moderate speeds. Not a major issue but is this normal? Wonder what your views were.
4. Does anyone know where (apart from LR) I can get new DISCOVERY 3 decals for the back as they are badly faded and tarnished. On eBay I can only find polished chrome ones.
5. Does anyone know what the safe payload limit is. How much weight can the boot take? I'm worried I don't want to put strain on the air suspension or crush the back seats when flat! I'm not using it as a pick-up but sometimes I have to deliver some quite heavy boxes and wondered what the weight limit was.
These Discoveries feel like a combination of being a tough 'tank' that will take anything and go on for ever, but woven together with so much technology that it's like a time-bomb of things to go wrong with the gadgetry!!
