New pads don't fit carrier...

Ok, I'm obviously missing something obvious here.
I'm changing the front pads on my disco2 but the new pads (delphi/lockheed) don't fit the carrier!
They have some thick black paint over them which I think make the difference between fitting and not fitting.

Am I meant to file off the paint?

Seems wrong but I'm probably going to have to do it!

No.. but if just removing a few microns of paint makes them fit do it, are they an exact match in shape to the ones you are replacing?.

if your sure the tap them in squarely,it will chip the black **** off-vauxhall astra's have 3m double sided tape to stick pad on-fecking crap if you ask me

I went for it anyway - hence my tardy response.
I figured that they were the cheapest part of the job.

Yes, they were the same shape and it was just the paint causing the pain.

So I filed off the paint (and a few microns of metal too no doubt) and they now fit nicely.

Get the rust off the caliper mounts where the pads go... Or in my case when I did them the other week... chip the mud from the off road course at driffield landy show off them... That stuffs like bloody cement!!
