Hi, great forum guys. I am looking at 4x4s, mainly to do with the weather , but also my job. I am a landscaper and currently have a van and am looking possibily to replace it with either another van or a 4x4. Question is does anyone else use their Disco as a work/family vehicle? I would like a commercial Td5 but they are rare at the right price. Cheers

i use my 300tdi for work also landscaping general building, tow a 12x6 ifor williams trailer behind it,also use it as a familly chariot aswell, does me well and comfy to drive, just sold my transit tipper so hope it works out in the long term..

Put a close boarded pallet in the back[free from local roof merchant, think they were for rolls of felt] fits like a glove. Rear seat belts fit under it out of the way and you can keep other stuff tucked out of the way underneath giving you a clear load area. Dont put more than 500 kg in the back or you'll be pushing weight limit. I need decent roof bars for mine so I can carry long ladders anyone know best place to get them?

my 200tdi disco replaced a ldv 400 van. the factory fitted roof bars are ok for carrying odd bits and short ladders , but arnt man enough for a long double ladder, really needs a pair of proper roof bars... the set of gutter mount ones ive bot in the shed arnt quite tall enough to clear the rear roof though.... i use a 10 x 7 trailer for what wont go inside.
bear in mind the standard disco is classed as a car it isnt subject to the tacho requirement when youre towing, a disco commercial is a commercial vehicle so should have a tacho if you tow more than the exempt distance from home (50 km?)
