Hi guys
just picked up my first disco today 94 300tdi 24000 on new engine drives like a dream :D just a couple of things i need help with.
1. the gearbox occasionally crunches into gear, i believe a common problem? is this an easy fix?
2. What are all the switches on the dash binnacle for? i havent got an owners manual and can't find one online.
Sorry if these are all noob questions but i come from a maverick and then a "cough musso"
Cheers
Mark

Owners handbook can be downloaded from LR Land Rover Owner Information (prs01736)

Switches etc are in the handbook

For the gearbox replace it with a recon unit thats an easy fix so they say :) or try synthetic MTF gear oil.

And :welcome2: to the Forum

Yeah x2 just try a gearbox oil change first of all. Not everyone realises the service frequency you're supposed to change it (every 12,000 miles or yearly).

Manual or Auto box? And Storm`s mistaken about switch for oil slick: that`s a non-optional extra on all Landys, no need for a special switch.

With 240k on the clock you might want to find out when it had its last Timing belt change. If you can't find out. Change it for piece of mind it could save a lot of heartache further down the line. ;)

Sorry that should have been 24k very low :) I'll grab an oil change and see how that goes first then, oh its a manual box does that make a difference to th oil needed?

The R380 is (IMHO) pretty good ,but the synchro will get a bit weak, with a few miles under it. To cure a graunchy/noisy change employ patience. Probably find the crunchy changes occur when pulling away from lights and late for a date! Oil change is a good idea, but don`t expect a miracle cure.
