Hi all,

Just put a deposit down on my first Disco - Land Rover Discovery 2.5 Td5 Adventurer 7 seat 5dr

I did a fair bit of reading on here about what to look for and things and I think this is a pretty good buy. It just had its MOT today which failed on suspension bushings, the garage has replaced all of them. Also, serviced today. It comes with an engine and gearbox warranty for 3 or 6 months. There is no rust on the body or chassis and both interior and exterior are very tidy.

I would be interested in any comments? I collect it this Saturday all being well.

A friend of mine said I should "box it" for more power. What exactly does that mean?!

Thanks

Will

Looks smart from the pics, If the mechanics are as good you have a nice motor there Will.

Your friend is referring to getting the ECU chipped or re-mapped.

Thanks for the reply. I have been assured it is mechanically sound so I'm actually pretty excited. I'm coming from an Audi S3 so this really is a step sideways!

Would you recommend a different map? The mileage is not high for a Disco which was one of my search criteria.

There is one name that crops up all the time for getting a remap done on this forum, I believe he did mine before I bought it - Mike from Dynachip. Not that expensive and he comes to you.

I picked it up yesterday and so far I'm chuffed, drives lovely, condition is very good. Can't wait to tinker with it. Naturally the other half is out today and has taken the Disco with her!

Here it is complete with mud!

I need to do a couple of bits, the driver's side window trim is coming away so I need to replace that and also the an interior window trim on the door.

Does anyone know when LR stopped fitting the centre diff in the Disco 2 range?

Stopped the CDL in the transfer box at some point 2001/2002. 51 plate will not have CDL in transfer box, then they bought it back as an option for face lifts IIRC.

Nice looking, although I am biased! Same colour, spec, and year as my adventurer.

Thanks! I think my wheels have been refurbished as the spare has a silver band around the edge and the running 4 don't.

cambridgecockney, I need the driver's side window trim as air gets into the cabin, the inside window door trim that sits against the window, driver's side also and gators for the gearsticks and handbrake. I also need things like front fog light glass, driver's side headlight guard, the bonnet lettering in the Gunsmoke Silver and most likely more!

I can find you most of those parts.the gators are cheap enough new from ebay.
will let you know what i can supply.

Looks very tidy mate. Unless its just me, the autotrader link doesn't work any more. Any chance of a quick post with some details, namely mileage and price. I've got a 300tdi which I bought semi-modded. Thinking of finding a standard low mileage TD5 and would be interested to know what you paid for yours, and for other peoples reference too!

I'm guessing the garage must have taken the advert down already.

Details are:

  • 2 owners, last owner had it for 8 years
  • 75k miles
  • FSH
  • No damage inside or out
  • 12 months MOT
  • Full service
  • 3 month engine and gearbox warranty

It cost me £4990 which I thought was a pretty good deal compared to what else was on AutoTrader.
