Since i bought the Disco last week, i noticed that under braking, i would get a bit of a steering wobble, I could also feel the brake pedal 'pulsing' at the same time....all these are symptoms of warped discs.

The discs and pads ones fitted appeared o.k but had seen better days, so off they came.

I have fitted some grooved and drilled discs from paddock and some EBS green stuff pads.....

Fitting went well apart from a couple of stubborn bolts that tested my patience, however all done now and road tested

They are miles better than the originals, very grippy and no more wheel shake or pedal pulse.... job sorted :)

Total cost about £70 squid... very happy money well spent...another job off the list

I love the performance of drilled & grooved discs, but couldn't help noticing that they were there if you know what I mean. I kinda think they should be on performance track vehicles not every day ones. But each to their own & that's exactly what owning a land rover is. We personalise them to our preference.

I did intend to do the rears at some point because i know the pads were a little low, however, upon closer inspection today, i discovered that the caliper on the rear nearside was sticking.

I removed the wheel and caliper only to discovery that the piston had partially seized causing the pads to stick.

Stripped the caliper and 'worked ' the piston a few times until it was free, and bit of lube and patience and it was back working again.

Surprised how hot the disc was getting due to the pad sticking

Anyway... all is now good.

I have just ordered the matching discs and pads for the rear, i am very happy with the fronts, so i think when with the rears they should perform very well.... hope to have them fitted before the weekend.

I used those Paddock discs on my P38. I think you'll find they work OK, but I wasn't happy with the way they rusted over after every shower of rain. I ended up changing them for some more expensive but far better quality slotted ones.

See how you get on with them.

Yes i know what you mean... i have fitted similiar discs on previous cars and they do seem prone to 'furring' over when wet... will see how they go.

The only critisism i would have so far, is that the green stuff pads do seem to produce a bit more dust than standard... but i can live with that as the performance is noticeably better.

Watch this space...

Greenstuff Pads are the ultimate performance/fast road brake pads you can get. These pads have a high friction coefficient, great initial bite from cold, and do not fade like standard brake pads. Being low dust, Greenstuff pads cut down between 60-90% of the dust common with most competitive types of semi-metallic pad on your alloys keeping wheels cleaner and delivering performance at the same time.

where they the 6000 series?

I think the description is a little misleading regarding the 6000 series pads. I put a set of 6000 pads on front and rear. As you know, the rears are not exactly big anyway, so they don't matter too much. The front 6000 series pads work OK, but you really need the 7000 series pads. They are the same thickness and size, but there is much more metal backing to them, giving them a much better feel.

I think EBC should rewrite their description and put the 7000 series pads as 'SUV 4x4 heavy duty', not the 6000. Not sure if the 7000 series front pads are even still available? I know Britpart supply EBC products, but not enquired about them specifically.

I've just fitted another set of rears, but I may well throw the lot away in favour of the Genuine Part pads, which I should have fitted a long time ago. Yes, they make more mess, but they do work very well.

The good thing is... they don't cost an arm and a leg to replace, especially as its a DIY job, so its good to experiment and find the brands that suit.

I'll see how these go, and if i'm happy i'll keep them, otherwise, i'll try another brand. Its good to get feedback from other forumers though of tried and tested pads, so keep em coming ;)
