Hi people Hope you can help?

I have just got a 2001 Disco ES which we just love :) but I have an a/c problem, I have checked the pressure and it's good, the compressor is running (you can hear it engage, also the gas pressure changes) I have no warning lights and the control panel seems to function normal i.e. fan speed, recurc, air distribution and so on. but I have no cold air ??

Can someone help please

Has the gas been topped-up recently?

Have you got the ECON button pressed?

Yes the Gas has been done and when I press the econ button I can hear the compressor engaging and disengaging. This is why I am stumped. When I put a a/c pressure gauge on the LP port and press the econ button the compressor engages and the pressure rises???? totally stumped.

I hope some of the great minds on this forum can help

are you getting any air out the vents ? or is the air comming out but its just not cold . it could be the blower if no air at all . if hot air then could be many things expansion valve ,dryer , blocked line ,

Hi, everything is working fine from inside plenty of air hot and cool just not cold or conditioned air? I dont know the best place to start as everything seams ok, i.e. gas in the system comp starts with the econ button off pressure rises when with comp on, all the controls work inside? What are the max and min pressures? Would the internal temp sensor affect it? As the air inside gets hot with the econ pressed i.e. No a/c, do both systems use the same sensor?

ok now i see . your hot air is mixing with your cold air and giving you that mild cool air or if it is cold when the vehicle is parked and it gets hot while moving then outside air is mixing . there may be a flap thats not closed or open as it should be and causing the hot cold mix . here in trinidad we dont need heat so i usually disconnect the water lines from the heater but you need it so have a look under the dash and see everything moves as it should

Hi, an update.

I have been under the dash and everything moves as it should(as much as I can see), but I have noticed that the electric cooling fan runs all the time, and while I can hear a change in engine noise when the econ button is pressed, the front of the comp looks the same, (is it not supposed to engage and disengage the centre?????) pressure is about 35 psi.

Pease help a frustrated & poor disco owner :)

It is supposed to engage and disengage the centre. Sounds like the clutch is not engaging.

Thanks, the whole pulley wheel is spinning, so does that mean that the clutch is engaged?

My next question is can the clutch be changed without replacing the comp?
