Clutch has started to slip when in 4th 5th gear more noticeable when you give it some pasty.
I've been quoted £650 for a new clutch and flywheel (apparently it would be best to change out the flywheel at the same time?) is this a decent price and would you swap out the flywheel even if its not that bad?

just bought a caravan too so it was sod's law the bloody clutch has started playing up lol.

td5 you will need clutch kit and dual mass flywheel, but you can get them cheaper than that,i think £80 clutch £250 ish flywheel

Sorry that price £650 was including fitting, I'm a computer technician don't mind changing brakes exhausts etc but a clutch on a big landy is way out of my league. :D

Quoted £450 excluding the flywheel for mine from local clutch centre which seemed reasonable and £1200 inc the flywheel from local 4x4 specialist which didn't. Was told that "its a really awkward job on a TD5 thats why we always do the flywheel as well". Don't see why its any more difficult than a 300TDI since its the same box. Assuming they're pulling the box out from underneath that is.
So what you've been quoted sounds about right. Generally seems to make sense doing the flywheel at the same time.

bell housing bolts are not too easy at the top and the inner starter and theres a pipe that bolts to top bolts that gets in the way, with dual mass flywheel, drive cushoning is removed from clutch plate and put in to flywheel essentialy you have two flywheels bonded together with rubber damper it is better than the ordinary clutch plate at protecting gearbox from the harsh torque of modern diesels
