My land rover discovery has white smoke coming out of the exhaust and no power

My Land rover discovery would not start at first so and I thought it was the alternator so I got a jump start and wen it started Theresa's a lot of white smoke and a knocking noise in the engine any one know what is happening

The smoke is now black smoke and its leaving black in burnt diesel behind the exhaust

Sounds fairly terminal.
Head gasket, piston broken, valves
