Hi all,

A couple of years ago we borrowed our mechanics 200tdi disco. It had so much poke it was unbelievable. He had jumped a pipe from somewhere to somewhere. He did tell me at the time what it was but it has got lost somewhere in my head. Does anyone know how I would do it, as ours is so flat? I have tried contacting him, but he is always so busy, and now we are 300 miles away it isn't so easy.

Thanks

Helen

He could have put in a decat pipe, or bypassed the egr valve. I'd recommend both, as you do get a noticeable difference in response and smoothness!

I noticed no difference after removal of the EGR on my 300 Tdi, I did decat and that made a noticeable difference to performance...although expect more exhaust noise and smoke :)

Biggest improvement I've made to date was replacing the lift pump with a new Delphi one.

No, not everyone notices with EGR removal, maybe yours was quite clean anyway! Thats true, a 200 has neither! Cant think what pipe he could be talking about! Yeah, i think fuel pump will be your best bet.

Believe me it wasn't :)

Haha, im not sure when removing the EGR makes a difference then! it certainly has done on some that i have replaced, and even cleaning makes a difference! Not necessarily in performance, but feels a bit smoother when accelerating. Most of my experience is from TD5's though!

Sounds to me like he's taken the pipe off the wastegate on the turbo so it gets max boost, not a good idea if you want to keep your engine in one piece!
