Hi all,

New owner of a '95 Discovery 300Tdi, with the single button alarm fob.

When the vehicle has been stood for more than a few hours, it is a nightmare to unlock with the fob.

I have to push the button anywhere between 5 and 30 times before the doors open.

It locks perfectly every time, and once it is unlocked it then locks and unlocks perfectly well until it has been stood again.

I have tried new batteries

Any of you wonderfully helpful people shed any light on this?

Here's hoping

Jason

The aerial for the locking is located behind the plastic trim next to the windscreen on the passenger side A post.
Try standing close to the passenger door window when unlocking and see if it is any better. Lets know .

Tried standing right next to the passenger side A-pillar and it is no better.

In fact it wouldn't even lock with the fob sometimes now.

I have had to resort to just using the key, is there a reset on the alarm unit or dies anyone have any bright idea?

Is the truck battery in good condition? A poor battery will affect the locking with the fob. After a run the battery will be more charged so the fob works until you have let it stand for awhile.

One thing that is worth checking is to look to see if the aerial is actually plugged into the side of the alarm ecu.
Mine wasn't.
After that you could well be looking at corrosion of the connections to the ecu, the aerial plug or the ecu itself.
They have a habit of getting wet thro water leaks.

Well this problem is becoming more interesting.

I have stopped using the fob due to the issues I am having (pressing the damn thing 20 or 30 times before it will open) and I am only using the key.

Whilst this is not as convenient as the fob, it has been working ok until yesterday.

Now every time I unlock the car with the key, the alarm sounds. If I lock it and unlock straight away, it stops sounding.

This is even if I lock the car with the key.

I would love a magic solution to this as it is really annoying me lol
