Hi all, instead of enjoying the sunshine like the rest of the country I'm working on the Disco trying to sort out a suspect abs. I have got a blink code of 2 - 8 which is possibly solenoid relay/wiring, the thing is when i drive away the abs light goes out & stays out yet when i switch on the ignition i get no abs light flash. I have tried to clear the fault by removing the jumper wire whilst the blink code is flashing but it will not clear, it cannot be an active fault as the light goes out when driving. Any ideas please:confused:

Really worrying me now lads.

The lamp not going out for .5 sec after 2.5 secs just means there are fault/s stored. If the lamp goes out after 7kmh then the ABS ecu is happy, all the self tests are done and good.
All you need to do is clear the fault memory,I cant remember how you do it via the paperclip method because I use T4, but as long as the lamp goes out you have little to worry about.

Thanks for your reply, I'm just very picky, i will endeavor to clear the fault using the paper clip method when i find it on the forum.

What about this :

General information
Electronic control unit (ECU) incorporates self-diagnosis function.
ABS warning lamp will illuminate in the event of system failure. Trouble codes can be displayed with the ABS warning lamp. Trouble codes can also be accessed with suitable code reader connected to the data link connector socket.
A. 1994-95: Diagnostic socket
B. 1996-98: Data link connector (DLC)

Accessing trouble codes
1.Ensure ignition switched OFF.
2.Remove ABS warning lamp relay.
3.Switch ignition ON.
4.Check warning lamp illuminates.
5.Bridge diagnostic socket terminals 2 and 5 or Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals 4 and 15
6.Wait 5 seconds. Warning lamp extinguishes.
7.Warning lamp starts flash sequence.
Compare with trouble code table.

Erasing trouble codes
1.Access trouble codes.
2.Disconnect diagnostic socket or data link connector (DLC) bridge wire.
3.Trouble code will be repeated until code erased.
If more than one trouble code has been flashed, reconnect bridge wire.
When last trouble code flashed, remove bridge wire.
4.Refit ABS warning lamp relay.
