Up **** creek.
down in my drivers footwell, when you remove the grey side plastic there are some electrics, two yellow and one green relay, a larger black box which looks like it has the mercedes symbol on it and two metal relays that are plugged into a black and a blue plug.

What are these electrics and most importantly what are the two metal relays for? they seem to have got wet at some point:doh:

Cheers.

this might be it :)

The relay details above are pre March 1994 (200 series) as u can see window lifts are relay controled and not by an ECU (300 series), anyway the two aluminium cased relays are the main fuel injection the other is fuel pump.
A large black relay as u discribe is not listed.:)

the large black box looks more like an ecu of some kind to me and im sure I could just make out something about fuel injection on that but it was dark so im not sure.

Main fuel injection and fuel pump relays- could these in any way be linked to my immobiliser problem that I have been experiencing?

If these relays did get wet and start playing up what could be the possible symptoms?

your engine wouldnt run ,relay with large white/purple wire runs fuel pump other with brown ecu ,check both work both should click when ignition turned on then fuel one clicks off after 4 seconds then back on when cranking

hard to see tonight as I had to look from the passenger side due to awkward parking and use my phones torch but from what I gather the relay with the purple wire connected to the blue plug closest to door (starter?) is showing the worst signs of corrosion.

If I stick my head in the drivers footwell Immediately when I turn the key I can hear a quiet click, a faint whirring sound which I assume is the fuel pump and then another louder click coming from the direction of the relays, funilly enough it is when the second click sounds my disco will decide whether or not to immobilise itself randomly, im wondering if this relay is connected to my immobiliser issue, I need to have a proper look in the light.

According to my parts book the standard relays positions are: on the lower rail, front wiper green, starter yellow, and ignition heater & a/c yellow.
On the top rail, a/c yellow, a/c clutch yellow, puel pump alloy, injection alloy, and control unit fan timer green.. that one may be for a/c.
