mates disco wont start

My mate has just baught a 99 v reg td5 disco. There's a problem with the clutch, also it won't start. Can hear fuel pump buzzing away, but wont fire up, there is oil at the red plug which I cleaned out, checked ecu which seems to be dry. Still won't start up, can't get it in computer till late next week so just hoping for a bit of advise please

Aparentley clutch went. He told my mate he thinks flywheels fubar aswell. Would this throw the signal out from crank sensor?

Not sure on what's happens really ratty, he's having clutch and flywheel done soon. Hopefully its just the crankshaft sensor at fault. Where is it located as I couldnt find it earlier?

Yep will get very close and personal with his gearbox/bell housing hope it aint got to many oil leaks
