Might have already read i had cooling issues which resulted in gasses in the cooling system.

Well after changing the rad/hoses/thermostat/ 2 heads(1 recon/1 used but working in previous car fine/2 elring head gaskets/ new bolts torqued/angled correctly

I still have the cooling system pressureised! (With exhaust gas i mean)

Only other way is if the block itself is cracked right?

Changed that too,
Smells fumey/ water thrown around expansion tank revved.
No other way that could happen right? Recon head was pressure tested/skimmed and face of block was cleaned thoroughly and flat according to my straight edge, cracked block is the other explanation i can come up with unless theres something else in the cooling system that could do this ?

Shame because it pulls so much better now.
 
Oh man how did i forget the water pump :eek:
So it could be .. water pump knackerd = blows headgasket quickly after changing

Would make sense, after changing the head it was expelling a little bit of white smoke but clears up completely in a short time and works perfectly with nothing in the cooling system for a little bit .. then back to exhaust gas in the coolant.

So if water pumps knackerd, replace that, have head checked for flatness and replace gasket again?

Want to keep this disco on the road :D
 
Im taking off the old waterpump tomorrow, theres some sort of sealent comming out the housing so someones been in there before and not done a very good job, i can see this is going to be a little dodgey getting out.

Hoping it is gone tbh, otherwise im out of explanations as to how it could be blowing the head gasket,
Will just fit another engine in if thats the case.

How can you of fitted 2 new heads without seeing the sealant coming from the housing
 
I did but theres no leaking coolant anywhere around that area (nor do i loose any coolant) so thought nothing of it.
Originaly thought it was the rad being in such crap condition that caused the issues, thats why i must have overlooked the waterpump :rolleyes:

Has rust inside but no faults with the actual propellers, spins freely with no play :banghead:
 
I think i know whats gone on here now, quite sure the blocks cracked.
When i got it i was told the fluids were changed recently so i assumed the anti freeze was correct too, did everything except that that and it was like that over the winter as i wasnt using it much.

When i did get the coolant out it was rusty crap (or some sort of rad seal) so i dont think there was any antifreeze in there or its leaked/topped up to the point it was diluted.
So froze over winter = cracked block, right?.

just going to pick up another disco for now (actualy know what to look for this time!) And decide what im going to do with this when i have some free time .. is a solid one otherwise with not a great deal of rust :(
