:) I finally got my disco last night a 98 300tdi auto es and I already love it (apart from the £100 to fill it up argggggggg) few little questions, it has cruise control but it don't work :-( the light on the master switch lights up when pressed but it don't work :-s are the buttons on the wheel ment to light up also? Where should I start looking to fix it? Also it has the factory remote locking/alarm/imob what happens if the batt goes flat in the fob as the alarm just goes off and it won't start unless it's been clicked on the fob? Is there a over ride just in case I get cought out? Cheers

Hi tom

i have a 98 gs 300 tdi auto with c/c but i wouldnt dare try it due to the age of the car and i have hered about not land rovers but other cars where the c/c has stuck on and with it being auto the car is very cumfy after a long run anyway so don't need to use it.

First thing to check, and it's a common problem, the vacuum hose. The hose splits at the various connection points it the system. Cut the ends off and then wrap the new end in a few laps of electrical tape and reconnect.
No there's no lights.

With the fob battery going flat you then have a few problems but u can over ride the immobiliser with a code entered via the drivers door lock (hassle), all the info is in the owner handbook.

Get yourself a second set of keys and fob it wil save any problems if you carry them also when a longway from home.

Cheers I'll have a fiddle with that tomorrow :) is the c/c rely as dodgy as ppl r makeing out?????? If it rely is liable to send me shooting down the motorway in 2 ton of landy at 100mph not being able to stop I think I'll just rip the fuse out and leave well alone lol Lol I already managed to break the only thing that ain't man sized on the car......... The poxy bonnet pull lol

As Discool says EKA should be found out ASAP. If not with vehicle get down to local stealers with V5 and ID. Murphy`s Law applies: if you got that you`ll not need it, but conversely...
If bonnet pull broken was it because of a "stiff pull"!.. ? Grease up catch and check cable not kinked/rusty.
Air-con: the cheapest fix is to open t`windows! Maybe fixed with a simple gas re-charge, but you could end up throwing £££s at it. Your choice.
Cruise-control IMHO as useful on UK roads as is air-con with UK climate!

fook all wrong with cruise control and touching the brake turns it off anyway. get it fixed and get it used m8:D

but what happens if you touch the brake pedal and nothing happens i wouldn't like to try it. i am not saying the c/c doesn't work but the only way i would try it would be on a rolling road or if there is a way of proving it all works without trying it on a motorway.

Lol yeah 100 they r right rocket ships lol that's another reason I wanted 1 so it made me slow down as it was to easy to drive like a tool in my now ex civic type r lol. I wouldn't panic about trying out the c/c at all even if it did some how go tits up big time and didn't cut out, just flick it in to neutral and kill the ignition. I don't get flustered over things like that, comes form haveing big bikes and track days on them lol I lost count of the amount of times my confidence out gunned my ability haha always managed to hold it mind (touch wood) lol
