Thought it was time to get a steering guard fitted, all delivered shiny and new all ready to fit and the last bolt is jammed in place, just wondered if anyone had this problem or if there is a particular way to get it out as it needs to be fitted to the other side of the bolt.

I have attached a photo instead of trying to explain exactly where it is, as a rough idea it is by the diver side front wheel.

Any ideas are much appreciated !!

soak it in wd40 today, tomorrow and the next week, daily

can you turn tthe head or is that solid?
2/
heat the bolt, OR the chassis let it cool, soak in wd 40 and do it again this may break the rust grip

3/
large bar on the head and see if you can get it to turn

4/
last resort

take head off with grinder, then knock it out with FBH

to the other side of the bolt? are you sure?

to where the bolt head is?its usually on the side where you've taken the nut out... thats how mine is

Yes sadly it is to the side with the bolt head, have soaked it in WD40 for a few days already, and been giving it quite a hit wih a hammer to try and dislodge it, will try again see with a bigger hammer !
Is it definatly just a shank and not thread the whole way through ?

Hi mate, I had a similar problem when fitting a rear jate ring.

1. You may be able to get a puller on the end of the bolt - to push it out.

2. Try plusgas its a better penetrant

3. if youre not sure if the bolt is threaded or half shank, then try to get it out the way it went in.

4. Heat.

5. you could try to drill the head of the bolt, sometime the torque will break it free.

6. FBH.

7. If no. 6 doesn't work get a bigger one, and hit it harder.

Good Luck, let us know how you get on.

Have you tried to rotate the bolt to get it moving initially? After the seal is broken it's a case of repeatedly lubing it as you hit it back and forth with a hammer and rotate with a spanner it until it frees off. Stick the nut back on the end to protect te bolt when whacking it with a hammer.

I've found power steering fluid to be the best thing to loosen stuff. Much better than plusgas or wd.

Got some in a plant mister bottle for stuck stuff :)

have you done it yet? try hitting the bolt head with a hammer as if to push the bolt head throw the chassis then hit the chassis where the bolt goes throw then put the nut back on to protect the threads and a breaker bar and socket on the bolt head and apply presure now tap the nut on the other end this should do it with liberal amounts of chosen penertrating fluid. if this fails go get the gas and blow the bastard out with 40 psi of oxygen :D good luck
