Yes I have! Since the '93 200 TDi is off the road at the moment, I've spent £200 on a '90 200TDi 3 door manual.

Why ? Because I need a diesel for it's torque! Although my V8 has plenty power, it gets stuck in deep snow because it has no torque.

For £200 as you can imagine there is a catch.

It has been off the road for 12 months and has no MOT or Tax. However I'm told by the previous owner it only needs a few simple things to pass, but I don't know for sure as the certificate is missing and after 12 months lots of other fail items could have appeared!

I've got a garage with a ramp, so I'll tow it to there later and put her up in the air to see what's what.

Hopefully I haven't bought something worse than my current 200! If so that defeats the purpose of buying this one instead of fixing my current one!

OK, I now know I need a diesel!

I just went 3 miles down the road to borrow a trailer from my friend, and he lives in a small village that has no gritters going through it, and the V8 got stuck three times!

I'm heading off now to go and collect the 200.

Well, the 200 is in my garage :)

I fired the motor up and with 87,000 miles on the clock she sounds great! Well, as great as a clattery diesel can!

I changed the oil because the old stuff was a few years old and gloopy, so she now has fresh 10W40 Semi-Synthetic oil in the sump and runs much smoother!

3 Tyres are flat and 1 tyre has about 10PSi in it, but since they are all different makes and at different wear stages, so I'm going to pick up a set of four BFGoodrich tyres later today with 90% tread left on them for £30 per tyre! Result!

I've checked over for MOT fails, and here is the list I've came up with (I'm an MOT tester so I should know what I'm looking for  )

Rear muffler rusted through
Both front wiper blades perished and do not clear windscreen

That's it! :)

So I'm going to get her ready for an MOT and get a certificate in the glove box as soon as possible!
