Irregular gear change...

Hi,

Been having problem with my auto box...

It seems to change just fine in the morning but sometimes during the day it would not change until I get the rev up to 3000+...

Any idea what may be wrong?

Yes oil changed last year... XYZ switch as well...

Checked the oil level in the box recently? Did you change the filter when you changed the oil?

Nope have not checked the level recently and forgot if the mechanic changed the filter when he changed the oil last year...

Someone mentioned that it could be the gearbox speed sensor... could it?

The first thing I would advise is to establish a baseline by checking the gearbox oil level.

It needs to be done with the engine running, after cycling through all gear lever positions, then check the level.

Finally checked the level and its ok...

will it change if you go 1,2,3,g/box ecu does auto gear changes thru soleniods on valve block inlike 300tdi and earlier boxes that had manual centifugal governor that would stick depending on oil temp/ condition,what gear dosent it change from

The problem occurs when changing from 1st to 2nd... No it does not solve the problem when I stick the gear manually from 1 to 2...
