Intercooler upgrade

Many years ago I had a 90 with a 2.8 isuzu engine. I added a Jeremy Fearns intercooler and the result was amazing, more so as it did not have any intercooler in the first place. I have now after many years returned to the Landrover fold and have bought an old Disco 300tdi. Now sadly funds do not run to a new bigger intercooler however I have noticed original LR intercoolers sell very cheaply. My question is this...would it be possible to pipe two original intercoolers together instead of buying a new very expensive big one? I realize it would not be as good but wondered if gains could be had for very little outlay.
 
Not worth the effort.
Turning the fuel up will be the way to go, but that's a waste of time as well.
Best results would be to go through the engine and make sure all the basic things where correctly set up.
If you want some thing faster go and buy a jap 4x4, but more power equals more fuel and the 300 TDI is really good on fuel.
 
Over sized intercoolers stuck on an engine on the basis that bigger is better is wrong.
It's not just the surface area but most importantly the speed that the air travels through the intercooler and contrary to popular belief some pressure differential is needed between the inlet and outlet side of the intercooler for it to work efficiently.

but upping the boost and fuelling plus fitting a larger (i'm not talking sill like the ovlov) the other option is a charge cooler because at the end of the day all your trying to do is drop the temp of the intake charge due to it being ramped up by both the heat of the turbo and most importantly the fact it has been compressed(as we all know compressing a gas causes it to heat up) the other option is using nitrous oxide to cool the charge
 
Generally speaking a larger intercooler will work.
Fitted a 2.8 Frontera one to my Astra diesel and combined with de-cat and upped fueling i managed to double the power.
Brunell Performance do a replacement intercooler both front mount and to fit in place of original which they claim will add up to 40bhp.

I absolutely agree.
One of the thinks I like about my 300 TDI is that it's so good on fuel and yes it's not the most powerful but when I am pulling a trailer with a couple of tonnes on it and I am going up a long hill with my foot flat on the floor I know it's not going to blow up because I've up the power to try and make it go faster.
